NATO E-3A visits Ramstein

 The NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force – or NAEW&CF— E-3A aircraft visited HQ AIRCOM at Ramstein Air Base, Germany Nov. 18-20.  The visit included discussions on the transfer of operational control of the E-3A platform to AIRCOM, planned for Autumn 2016, as well as a static display of the E-3A for all HQ AIRCOM staff.  The E-3A Component is NATO's first integrated, multi-national flying unit, providing rapid deployability, airborne command, control and communication for NATO operations and assurance of Allied nations.

 

 RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany—One of NATO’s own Airborne Early Warning and Control Force – or NAEW&CF— E-3A aircraft will land here Nov. 18 to visit Headquarters NATO Allied Air Command (AIRCOM).  The E-3A Component is NATO's first integrated, multi-national flying unit, providing rapid deployability, airborne command, control and communication for NATO operations and assurance of Allied nations. The visit will include discussions on the transfer of operational control of the E-3A platform to AIRCOM, planned for Fall 2016. 

 The E-3A Component is one of two operational elements of the NATO Airborne Early Warning & Control Force, designed to enhance theatre awareness, ensure airspace integrity and reassure Allied nations. The Component’s mission is to provide aircraft and trained aircrews to deliver surveillance, command, control and communications whenever directed by the NEAW&CF Commander on behalf of the NATO commander, The Supreme Allied Commander, Europe.
