Today, 30 April 2014, the US Air Force detachment which took overthe Baltic Air Policing task in January, handed over the responsibility for the Baltic airspace to the Polish Air Force detachment from Malbork, Poland. The brief ceremony was conducted at the Lithuanian air base at Siauliai in thepresence of civilian and military representatives from Poland and the United States as well as the Host Nation, led by the Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius.

The fourteenth Baltic Region Training Event (BRTE XIV) took place on 16 and 17 April 2013 in the skies over the Baltic Region, Sweden and Poland to sharpen skills of aircrews and air controllers in responding to unexpected events in Alliance airspace.

NATO Air Chiefs and senior officers from 25 Allied Air Forces arrived at Ramstein in the evening of 7 April 2014 to convene for the NATO Air Chiefs Symposium 2014. The Commander of Allied Air Command (AIRCOM), US Air Force General Frank Gorenc, had invited his national colleagues to discuss current air-related issues on 8 April.

Having successfully completed exercise RAMSTEIN DUST-I/2014, DARS (1) Poggio Renatico, Italy, is ready to return to base. After the initial phase which verified the DARS capabilities of performing a safe, effective and timely deployment and build-up, the crew had the opportunity of testing the operational capabilities during execution and control of 25 sorties of live Air Missions and simulated scenarios.

Together with Lithuanian Minister of National Defence, Mr. Juozas Olekas, and civilian and military representatives, Lieutenant General Joachim Wundrak, Commander of NATO’s Combined Air Operations Centre (CAOC) at Uedem, Germany, visited the first Baltic Region Training Event (BRTE) this year on 1 April 2014.
